The Tyranny of copyright is the fact that copyrights are setting a limit on everything. Before copyright everything flowed freely, but became it a problem with people copy others works and taking credit for it. Some people believe that all these copyright laws are stifling creativity. They fear that that creativity will be limited to the point of taking away democratic freedom. However there is always a reason for laws, and these laws are for protection in efforts to stop piracy. There is movement forming called The Free Culture Movement they feel that copyright laws are getting are getting out of control, and that it is not encourage Innovation there for stifling creativity. They feel that if I goes to far it will be used to hoarded ideas and going against the constitution. Believing that everyone should have the right to draw ideas from other ideas. It takes 95 years for ideas to lose there copy right and be placed in a public domain for others to use. Intellectual property is expiring when it should never expire. I can see how there are people whom don’t like copyright laws, But it all comes down to integrity, why can people just think up ideas on there own like millions before them. There is no way to run out of ideas, although I see the other point of view to because a lot of times see other thing spark that idea. But I think it’s a completely necessary for copyright laws because people are evil and they think to steal. Especially in the music industry peoples works of art that they put there hearts and souls into are being ripped from underneath them, either that or there not making money anyways because no boy bys there music any more the just rip it of limewire. The point is people where getting lazy and taking other peoples ingenious ideas and making it there own and that’s not fare so that’s why there are laws trying to prevent this piracy.

Google is referred to as the “ Big Brother” Because they’re at the top of there game.

The company is enforces a number of technique to stay at the top of there game remaining superior to other search engines. For some reason Google is more popular and some people believe it has better search results then yahoo and other search engines, because it appears to have better results. Google spiders the Internet non-stop so they can achieve there search results. In all reality Yahoo is just as good there is 20 percent overlap between the there first 100 results, but the results are just as good. But some how Google remains at a 75 percent monopoly over all the other search engines. They argue though that Google is bad, mainly because it has spyware so they can monitor what people are search and keeps a record of it. Also referred to as a privacy time bomb, because when you search for something the syware records your IP address so you’re pretty much screwed if you search for things that are private. Also if the things you search for are illegal your in even more trouble if the catch up to. I personally use Google, although, to be completely honest I’m not sure why. I think I do it out of habit. But I can rember feeling frustrated using yahoo because it’s not just a search engine. You go to the page and there’s all this news and login stuff posted everywhere. Then you go to Google and it a straight simple layout that has cool new Google logo every day. I’m really not to worried about my privacy being breached either because I’m not doing anything illegal. I’m actually pretty happy with Google and who knows perhaps thats why its so popular. All I know is that any time I want to search for something the first thing that pops in my head is “Google It”. It’s all based on personal preference and like everything else in the world people are almost brain washed to do the coolest, easiest, most popular thing. So if other engines can Implement ways to make them popular they to could easily sleep there foot in the door to being` the new popular thing. JUST REMEMBER THE POPULAR VOTE ALWAYS WINS.

Precis #3 Cyber Bullying

March 4, 2008 at 4:37 am (Uncategorized)

Technology is has had a big effect in the growth of many good things, but people will always take advantage of it for bad things. Cyber bulling is no joke it can be as debilitating as physical and verbal abuse. There is always going to be bullying, its just varies from person to person. Cyber bulling has no doubt made its mark on the world.  Bullies are no longer restricted to physical intimidation or treating phone calls and harassment. You know longer have to be so big buff scary guy to be a bully. Any one of any age or size can be a bully now because your identity can be hidden. It’s a much more appealing to bully because you can bully in so many ways now. It’ easier to be intimidating because your not having a face to face confrontations. Harassment is way easier and cause more humiliation because with e-mail, IM, and Myspace, it can reach a bigger audience quicker then word of mouth. As always teens and young adults are the usual victim. Its no wonder that bully is the first sign of violet behavior in adults, though most people grow out of it. There is really no way to put an end to cyber bullying, but you can try to prevent it, by not posting personal information or by limiting who sees that personal information. Trying not to provoke things, by reacting this can cause the situation to escalate. Rember it’s not a joke, so document the activity by printing it or saving it and documenting times and dates. That way if need be you can report to the authorities and have proof. Parents can also help prevent this by teaching their little monsters good online habits.
Bulling is over rated although its can get violent, its just a childish action. Bullies are insecure and the try to make themselves feel better by picking on the vulnerable. Try not to let it bug you, which is not always easy. Just try to have confidence in your self and that makes you the better person.  Life is to to short to drown on what other people think or say about you.

Net Neutrality Preces #1

January 23, 2008 at 1:58 am (Uncategorized)

The senate wont give up, with the proposal of a web neutrality bill. Last year it was called Internet Freedom Preservation Act that failed by an 11-11 vote. This year proposing the same exact bill, they just won’t quite. There is a good chance this bill could be passed because a lot of democrats agree with it. But it’s really all up to the users. The basic idea is for network operators to be prohibited from taking care of business, by prioritizing content, By charging more money for better service. Once again its all about money company executives want the right to charge more money for premium placement so they can make a better investment. Take more money from people for the advancement of the web. This would prevent a lot of consumer internet freedom, while barding the network operators from blocking internet access. There must be a standalone broadband serves, to go along with their prioritized different pipelines with each having separate content. Only one republican this year approves of this bill. Different companies our starting to propose their own versions of net neutrality. With the fate of the internet at stake, This will put restriction on both companies and consumers. Making it against the law to invest in customized internet service. With claims that the internet will still be affordable. There is fear that this will suffocate innovation, and violate consumer freedom. Resulting in the lose of home health monitoring, security and telecommunications.
I don’t know what to think about this. I know it would help pay for further advancements in the Internet, but I think it with cause more anger towards the government and people will stop using the internet all together, leaving no point in advancing our internet technologies. Making us struggle a little bit more what is next? I’m already picking the lint out of the bottom of my pockets trying to pay for collage to become a web designer. Then who’s going to hire me if the world refuses to pay these ridiculous extra fees. Everyone will lose out except the government as always. Even the network companies will lose customers and everyone will lose their jobs. It just seems like another scam by the government to me, just to take more of taxpayer money. I think advancement in the internet will pay for them selves if the government leaves theirs net neutrality stuff alone. I just think there is better things to spend our time and money on like eliminating poverty, and the raping of tax payers money.
